I am looking to see what others provide for school nursing and health services at community preschool sites. The ideal discussion would be those districts who do not employ the general education teachers or staff who work the preschool program. I welcome all views. Here are some questions:
Do you provide school nursing and health services to any child in such a program without an IEP? With an IEP?
Do you provide any school nursing and health services to the program, such as population screenings for vision/hearing?
How do you approach students with health conditions in these settings, such as type 1 diabetes who may need insulin and or glucagon?
Would you have language from your district's contract with these entities that you would share the area specific to school nursing and health services?
How do you approach training staff at community preschool sites for administration of medication or student specific health conditions?
Thank you for sharing.
