Has anyone ever completed the National Certification and then applied for School Nurse Licensure through DPI? I find the process complicated and am looking for some assistance, mostly on how to enter my Certification as the degree requirements.

I have not, but I did ask local districts and this is what another nurse stated:

Once you have passed the Exam, you then can apply for the Wisconsin LSN (Licensed School Nurse) through the Department of Public Instruction. There is not a specific spot for nursing, you have to go through the Pupil Services section and then select "Request new license, uncommon request".  It is a bit cumbersome and the tech support is not fabulous one of them told me I was on the wrong website - because they do not license nurses, DPI is for school staff and I needed to look for department of "health services", not "public instruction" so I gave them more tech support then they gave me on that communication!  Louise Wilson recently updated some links and a document in the School Nursing part of the DPI website that has some information that helps with the license process a bit better (they are below).  When you fill out the DPI application you will need to write a license request letter stating why you are requesting this and need to upload that and your NCSN certificate.  The cost is $125 for the LSN.  I was finally able to submit mine after multiple attempts to access the right part in the Pupil Services section (and an upgrade to their system that then changed some forms that made it accessible……..) it says 6-8 weeks after they receive application and payment that you will hear something from them but that licenses are issued starting July 1st, so guessing it may be a while yet as they do not seem to be super-efficient in processing things there…….

Here are the links that Louise Wilson has added to the School Nurse sections on DPI:
New Pathway to Obtain Voluntary DPI School Nurse License | Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction

Directions for an Uncommon Request | Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction

School Nurse Definition Licensure and Certification (wi.gov)

You will need to create an account here:
    Online Services (wieducatorlicensing.org)
When choosing which license from the dropdowns this is where you would select the Pupil Services Category, there are 3 dropdowns in a row, the third one is where you select Pupil Services: Request New License: Uncommon Request
When it asks why you are doing the "uncommon request", the answer is that "you were directed by DPI to complete this application."

There is a section upload your letter of why you are requesting this license, you can also upload your NCSN certificate there.

    Good Luck!
