Why consider volunteering?

WASN is operated completely by volunteer members who are also busy school nurses or school nurse administrators just like yourself. Please consider stepping forward to help lead an organization that is dedicated to advancing the profession of School Nursing in Wisconsin. You could make a difference in enhancing the health, safety and educational success of students in our state.

Sounds nice but I don't have the time...

If you are considering volunteering but questioning your ability or desire to dedicate your valuable time and weigh the demands of job and personal responsibilities, you are not alone!  Consider what a valuable, rewarding experience this opportunity could be and how it will strengthen your professional skills...

Strengthen Leadership Skills-

Your participation will provide you with the opportunity to strengthen your ability to engage and motivate others in pursuit of goals that shape school nursing in Wisconsin.

Build Relationships-

As a board or committee member, you will increase your network of contacts and deepen your relationships with school nursing peers,  creating opportunities for collaboration that will have a lasting impact.

Think Strategically-

As a volunteer leader, you will gain expertise in determining how best to contribute strategic, proactive support to the organization and to the overarching issues of school health.

Reap the Rewards-

The greatest reward for serving as a volunteer board or committee member is the satisfaction that your time was well spent, that you learned something new & helped make a difference for school nursing and students in Wisconsin

Great but I don’t have any experience...
No experience is needed or expected.  That may sound odd, and while joining a board or chairing a committee may sound daunting at first, new board members and committee chairs are oriented and mentored by seasoned members.  Serving on the WASN board is a great way to learn and grow in your professional role as a school nurse while working with an extremely passionate and understanding group of people who understand how hard we all work every day.  Joining a board like WASN's could be a pathway to serving on other boards- leading the way to collaboration within your own community to advance school nursing or anything else you may be passionate about.

Ok, I'm intrigued, tell me more...
Contact Michelle "Shell" Kaczorowski, Membership/Mentor Chair or President Elect Jamie Trzebiatowski with any questions, or to let them know if you are interested in volunteering.
Thank you for your consideration!
