Encourage Legislators to Reduce Taxation to Schools on Medicaid
Reimbursement
Body of Message:
My name is _______, a school nurse with ________ district. I am writing to
request that the Joint Finance Committee passes a motion to prioritize Medicaid
reimbursement to schools by matching the withholding percentage to county
Withholdings.
Currently there is an increased burden on schools where 40% of withholdings
occur on both the claim and cost settlement for Medicaid reimbursements.
Whereas for county withholdings there is a single withholding of 17% on the cost
settlement only. This creates an excess taxation when Medicaid reimbursable
services are provided within the school setting.
As the legislative representative for my school district, I would like to request that
the Joint Finance Committee passes a motion to reduce the percent withholding
on school Medicaid reimbursement and treat schools equitably in comparison to
county withholdings.
Thank you for taking the time to understand this issue and the unnecessary
burden placed on school districts relative to other agencies that provide similar
Medicaid reimbursable services.
Sincerely,
Name, District
